Advising
Review the following helpful planning sections to ensure you meet all of the important deadlines throughout your program.
Each Semester
- Sign up for an advising appointment with your advisor (during the advising period) and receive your PIN
- Record your progress on your checksheet (you should keep your own copy current)
- Sign up for classes during your scheduled time to ensure you get the classes you need
Admission to Teacher Education (Step 1)
- Review the application to teacher education form and familiarize yourself with the requirements
- Complete all of the requirements for admisssion to teacher education, complete the form, and bring it to your advisor for their signature. As part of this process:
- Declare a Second Academic Concentration (SAC) - most students declare Computer Information Systems (CIS).
- Complete the Speech proficiency testing
- Complete PRAXIS I with passing scores or meet the ACT or SAT requirements.
One year before Student Teaching
- Complete the Student Teaching Application Online
- Verify your Criminal Background Check is up to date
- Request a Graduation review (check) of your coursework with Karen Rhymer's Office (Room 220 Duncan Hall)
- Sign up for your TB test and have it read
- Attend all student teaching planning meetings (typically the month before you are to student teach)
Before Graduation
- Ensure you have completed all course requirements with your Advisor and Karen Rhymer's Office
- Complete the PRAXIS II (Business and/or Marketing Education Content Area Exam) Exam
